Pat Lehnertz was born January 9, 1941, in Salinas, CA, to Schuyler and Vivian (Solem) Ruttmann. She later traveled and attended school abroad with her mother Vivian and stepfather, Ted Cossairt. She graduated from Rapid City High School and attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls. She met Jack in Sioux Falls and they were married on December 2, 1961. Jack had joined the US Air Force so they relocated a few times and they spent several years overseas finally ending up at Ellsworth Air Force Base and the Black Hills. Pat later worked in retail management in various capacities.

Pat loved her animals to include her Persian cats and her Yorkies "Rufus". She often reminisced and shared stories about her travels abroad and she enjoyed reading.

Patricia Ann Lehnertz, 76, died Tuesday, January 11, 2017, at the Sturgis Massa Long-term Care Unit where she had been a long-time resident. She often spoke fondly about the staff and considered many of them her friends.

Survivors include a son, Shawn (Christina) Lehnertz and their children Michael, Jake and Catherine, Chantilly, VA; two daughters, Kim (Mark) Lantis, and their children Wyatt, Morgan & Josh (Karin) Shoemaker and their children Trynyty, Taylor and Ava, New Underwood, SD; and Cally McKay, Sergeant Bluff, IA; a brother-in-law; three sister-in-law's and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; half-brother; husband and one grandchild.

Christian Rosary Service will be Monday, January 16, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. at St. Francis of Assis Catholic Church in Sturgis, with Father Kerry Prendiville officiating.

Inurnment will be Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
