Patricia Mae Sage Williams passed peacefully away on Tuesday December 7th, 2010 at her home in Sturgis, South Dakota surrounded by family.
Pat was born on November 29, l943 to Pauline (Dutro) and Ervin Sage, Sr. at Salida, Colorado, the youngest of 5 children. She grew up and worked on her parent's Dairy farm outside of Salida. Pat's education started in a one room rural school (one teacher - 8 grades) and continued in schools in Salida after consolidation. Pat graduated in 1961 from Salida High School.
Pat's work experience included bank teller, long distance telephone operator, Avon sales, substitute teacher, office manager and bookkeeper, deputy clerk magistrate and clerk magistrate for Meade County. During her tenure as magistrate, she performed hundreds of marriage ceremonies and many were done during the Sturgis Rally. Many of the brides and grooms were from foreign countries. She served on many committees at the state level for the 8th circuit court. She valued the close friendships she made at the courthouse. She retired in May 2001.
Pat remained close friends with seven high school classmates who held yearly reunions throughout the United States. Her friends live in Conn., Calif., Mo., N Mex., and 3 in Colo. They recently held a reunion in Sturgis.
She is survived by husband Karl, son Derek, Jane Sheridan, daughter Karla (Marvin) Geersen, granddaughters Amanda, Brittany, Cassidy, and Darcy Geersen, grandson Ian Williams, sisters Marie (Woody) Hill, Casper, Wyo., Becky (Lauren) Gerber-Puyear, Arvada, Colo., brother Ervin (Fritz) Sage (Betty), Fowler, Colorado, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, brother William J (Bill) Sage, and son Terry L. Williams.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 11th at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis. Visitation will be held Friday at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis from noon until 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial to Sturgis Relay for Life is suggested.
