Pat passed away on April 9, 2026, at the age of 65 after a short battle with prostate cancer. Pat was born on March 29, 1961, in Chamberlain, South Dakota to Floyd and Esther (Erikson) Cleland.

Pat grew up in Sturgis, SD and graduated from Sturgis Brown High School in 1979. Throughout his adult life he worked in several different places such as Sturgis Meat Service, Koch Exploration in Buffalo, SD, and did some directional drilling in Denver, Colorado. He then moved back to the Rapid City area where he worked for Larry Grubl on his ranch for a short time. It was after that he started a career in trucking, realizing he really loved trucking.

Everywhere Pat went he made friends. Pat was a good-hearted person, he loved his family and friends and his beloved dogs; Roscoe, Jasper, and Ruger. Pat lived a very colorful and full life. He left a lasting impression on everyone who knew or met him.

Pat is survived by his daughter, Amanda Cleland; granddaughter, Julianna Cleland; two brothers, Gary Cleland and Kelly (Lori) Cleland; nephew, Kirby Cleland; great nephew, Oliver Cleland; and niece, Molly (Alex) Raber; along with his beloved dog, Ruger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Esther Cleland; and one nephew, Bailey Cleland.
