Patrick Mark Walsh, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away on August 28, 2024 at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center in Sturgis, South Dakota, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on February 25, 1941 in Rapid City, SD to Margaret and Mark Walsh.
Pat was the third oldest of seven children and from a young age showed a determination to be independent, always ready for a new adventure. After graduating from St. Mary's High School in Bismarck, ND he joined the Navy where he served on the USS Caliente and the USS Mispillion. In 1980 Pat married Paula Newcomb in Anoka, Mn. Their union brought forth daughter, Kelly and son, Ryan. Pat was a proud father, always supporting his children in their endeavors.
Pat found joy in anything with an engine. Motorcycles were his passion throughout his life along with rebuilding old cars and trucks and racing go-carts.His adventurous spirit led him to ride the 3 Flags Motorcycle Rally (Mexico to Canada) in three days over 10 times while always returning home with captivating stories of his journeys. He shared this love for motorcycles by teaching son Ryan how to ride which resulted in epic trips together that created cherished memories they both hold dear. He shared his fondness for the ocean and scuba diving in the Sea of Cortez with daughter Kelly, the trips together she always looked forward to.
Throughout his life Pat ran several businesses, never shying away from trying something new or challenging himself further. He built his dream retirement home in Spearfish and enjoyed the breathtaking views of the Black Hills right from his favorite spot on the hill.
To all who knew him personally or professionally, Pat was known as not only being a good neighbor but also an exceptional friend whose kindness touched countless lives.
Pat leaves behind family members including his wife of 44yrs, Paula; daughter Kelly Walsh Elliott; son, Ryan Walsh; bonus son, Brad Elliott and cherished grandson Cody Elliott, sister Suzanne Dick, brothers Tim, Clancy and Kevin Walsh. Many nieces and nephews.
May Pat rest peacefully knowing that those left behind will carry forward all that made him special into each day ahead until they meet again someday beyond the world we know today.
Pat will be laid to rest at a later date in the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
