Paul was born Dec. 5, 1916, to Regina (Brodeur) and Hormidas Deschamps on the homestead ranch at Castle Rock north of Newell.
He attended rural schools. Since there were no fences on the wide-open prairies in those earlier years, he and his brother, Eloi, alternated school days and herding sheep.
Paul married Ardelle Hilton on June 4, 1944. They had four children: Paulette, Allan, baby Brian and Kevin. After Ardelle's death on Dec. 14, 1963, Paul married Effie Lewis on Nov. 12, 1966.
Paul and Eloi took over the family ranch after the death of their father. The two brothers were life long partners in their farm and ranch business, which consisted of sheep and crops. In recent years, they sold the sheep and they went into the buffalo business with son Kevin.
Paul was a past member of the Castle Rock School Board for many years, director on the West River Cooperative Telephone Company Board for 23 years and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newell. Paul enjoyed dancing, playing cards, hunting and visiting with family and friends.
Paul will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
