Paul J. Frey, age 79, Sturgis, SD passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital. Paul John Frey was born on July 17, 1945 near Sturgis, SD, to Frank G. Frey and Marie A. (Baker) Frey.   He was raised on a farm near Bear Butte.  Paul attended and graduated from Sturgis Brown High School.  Paul joined the South Dakota Army National Guard in 1965, serving 12 years, including be called to duty for the Rapid City flood.  Using what he learned in the national guard, Paul worked for many years as an equipment operator for several area construction companies.

Paul married Sheryl Ann Roberts on January 11, 1974, gaining his son, Jeff Nolan at that time.  Paul enjoyed fishing, hunting, and attending Stock car and drag races.

Paul is survived by his son, Jeff (Brittany Pierce) Nolan, Sturgis; two grandsons, Patrick John Wayne Pierce and Jericho James Pierce; sister, Audrey Masters, Yakima, WA along with numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sheryl Ann Frey; brothers, Frank Frey, Robert Frey, James Frey; sister, Linda Harwood and great-nephew, Andrew John Frey.

His Mass of Christian Burial with military honors will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis.  Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, August 26, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with a Wake Service to follow at 7:00 PM. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
