Paul was born February 26, 1968, in Hot Springs, SD., to Donley and Joyce (Windedahl) Herron. He graduated from Custer High School in 1986.

He joined the U.S. Air Force after High School and served from 1986-1989. He served as a mechanic for several of the different planes that the Air Force used at that time. One of the planes he worked on was the C5 transport plane. Following his honorable discharge, he went to Vo-Tech and became a welder and was an excellent welder working for varying companies.

Paul loved to hunt, fish, and had a talent for drawing and painting pictures. He was a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephew.

Paul E. Herron, 47, Rapid City, died Monday, November 30, 2015, at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Fort Meade.

He is survived by one brother, Jeff (Dawn) Herron of Yankton; niece, Becky (Jaimie) O'Neill of Sioux Falls; nephew, Matthew (Leah) Herron of Dickinson, ND; niece, Megan (Jon) Berry of Omaha, NE; one aunt, Ardis (James) Johnson of Brookings; one uncle, Kermit Franzen of Madison, WI; and four great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and one aunt, Marlyn Franzen.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 3, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Pastor Evelyn Johnson officiating.

Inurnment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
