Paul was born April 28, 1948, in Deadwood, SD, to Clyde and Constance (Aga) Patterson. He served in the US Army from 1969 until 1971 in Vietnam.
He moved his family to Flippin, Arkansas in 1971 till 1979 then to Colstrip and Hammond MT till 1987 where he moved back and stayed in Belle Fourche. Paul worked at Wolf Plumbing for 15 years and before that he worked at the Black Hills National Cemetery he also drove a bus and
took the veterans to their appointment. Paul loved riding his 4-Wheeler to visit friends in town. Paul enjoyed working with wood. After his stroke 18 years ago, he learned to overcome only being able to use one hand. He was willing to lend advice and help any way he could.
Paul Gayle Patterson, 68, Belle Fourche, died Saturday, September 3, 2016, at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Fort Meade.
He is survived by Helen Patterson, Belle Fourche; daughter, VickiLee (Robert) Larson, Belle Fourche; son, John Paul (Amber) Patterson, Sanford, NC; seven grandchildren, Tyler Roden, Milica, MN, Samantha Patterson (Corey Matchett), Ashby, MA, Christina Patterson, Spearfish, SD, Trenten Larson, Belle Fourche, Jacob Patterson, Sanford, NC, Trinity Patterson, Sanford, NC, and Teneesha Larson, Belle Fourche; two greatgrandchildren, Skylar Roden, Duluth, MN, and Cooper Matchett, Ashby, MA; two brothers, William (Judy) Patterson, Huston, TX, and Jesse (Gayle) Patterson, Mountain Home, AR; two sisters, Cindy Eide, Sturgis, and Vicky (Dave) Saulsbury, Colstrip, MT; special family also still alive is aunts ,uncles, cousins and nephews and nieces; sister-in-law, Jessie Wilson, Thermopolis, WY; niece, Cindee Vitto, Hullett, WY, nephew, Jimmy Eide, Sturgis; niece, Sydney Eide, Deadwood; great-niece, Jessica Eide, Deadwood; and great-nephew, Chase Funell, Deadwood.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jim; his parents; and his stepfather, Tom Powell.
