Lillian Kost Miller, 93, Sturgis, died at the Sturgis Regional Senior Care Center on Sunday, April 2, 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 7, at the Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Fox officiating. Burial will follow at the Bear Butte Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.

Lillian was born at Crocker on Dec. 8, 1912, to John and Gunda (Svarstad) Bekken. She grew up in Zeona and graduated from High School in Hettinger, N.D. Lillian attended Black Hills Teachers College in Spearfish.

She married Albert W. Kost at Lead on June 20, 1933. She taught country school at Nine-mile School, Eden School and Pleasant Valley School. Later, she taught kindergarten at the Badger Clark School in Sturgis. Albert died in 1985 and she married Howard Walt Miller at Sturgis on Feb. 14, 1987.

Lillian was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, ELCW, and the Bible study group. She was also a member of the South Sturgis Extension Club. She and both her husbands volunteered many hours at the Senior Citizens Center, especially with their music.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Donald and Sandy Kost of Gillette, Wyo., and Ernest and Pam Kost of Canyon Country, Calif.; two daughters and their husbands, Joyce and Wayne Simons of Gillette, Wyo., and Doris and Keith McGee of Pierre; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gunda Bekken; her first husband, Albert Kost; her second husband, Walt Miller; and three brothers, Tilman, Elmer and Norman.
