Phoebe was born December 10th, 1932, in Brush, Colorado, Phoebe was the third child born to Glen and Gladys Cowen. Her family later moved to Haxtun, Colorado. She graduated from Haxtun High School in 1951. In 1952 she moved to Colorado Springs, graduating from Blair Business College where she married and traveled with her first husband, Laverne Westerman and their two sons, Rick and David.
In 1967 she met Julian "Woody" Wood and they were married at the Baptist Church in Canon City, Colorado where they raised a family of four children; Woody's children, Gwen and Mark along with Phoebe's two sons.
In 1987 Phoebe and Woody retired to a small mountain community near Texas Creek. After a brief move to Colorado Springs, they then moved again to Florida in 2009 due to Woody's failing health. After Woody passed away, Phoebe returned to Colorado before relocating to Sturgis, South Dakota, where she resided at Aspen Grove Assisted Living Center until she went to be with our Lord.
Phoebe Ann Wood, age 85, passed away on September 9, 2018.
Phoebe is survived by her daughter, Gwen (Tom) McKee of Hudson, Florida; sons, Mark (Kathy) Wood of Rapid City, South Dakota and David Westerman of Gunnison, Colorado; two grandchildren, Mary (Mike) Pollard of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Matt McKee of Los Angeles, California; great-granddaughter, Amber Pollard of Rapid City, South Dakota; two sisters, Elizabeth Sedenburg of Johnstown, Colorado, and Joan Starnes, of Haxtun, Colorado; brother, Glen (Dorothy) Cowen of Grand Junction, Colorado; along with many nieces and nephews that she adored.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Gladys Cowen; husband, Julian "Woody" Wood; son, Rick Westerman; and brother, Manuel Cowen.
Services and inurnment will be in Canon City, Colorado on September 21, 2018.
