Phyllis Ann Frame, "Hakata Win" (Youngest Girl), 69, Whitewood, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at the Spearfish Regional Hospital.
Visitation will be at the Hale Hall in Whitewood Friday evening.
Visitation will resume at the Dupree Community Hall in Dupree on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, with funeral services beginning at 5 p.m.
Phyllis was born May 14, 1938, at Dupree, to Mose and Anna (Eagle Chasing) Red Bird. She grew up in the Dupree area and attended boarding school at the Old Agency near Eagle Butte. After completing her education, she lived at Thunder Butte until she married Gerald Frame at Sioux Falls, on Sept. 28, 1965. They lived in Virginia while Gerald was in the military. They returned to the Dupree area where they started their family. They moved to Whitewood in 1980.
Phyllis enjoyed going to Powwows. She loved her children and grandchildren. She also liked to play bingo and loved her animals. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for others. She was knowledgeable and full of wisdom in her Lakota culture. Throughout her journey in this life, Phyllis, lived her Lakota values of generosity and respect by providing food, laughter, and support to many people at the ceremonial site at Bear Butte and to whomever she encountered in her daily life.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Frame, Whitewood; one son, Phil J. Frame, Dousman, Wis.; two daughters, Tracey (Kevin) Fischer, Piedmont, and Shelby Frame, Pierre; one brother, Paul Red Bird, Hot Springs; one sister, Ramona Red Horse, Takini; three grandchildren, Cody Frame, Whitewood, Coy Fischer, Piedmont, and Kieran Duffy, Pierre.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and one sister.
