Phyllis Eileen Mailloux was born in Holstein, NE on May 20, 1926 to William and Martha (Beirow) Halbmaier. In 1929, the family moved to Newell, SD. She graduated from Deadwood High School in June of 1945. The family held many dances in Whitewood SD, where lots of fun was had by everyone.

On November 28, 1948, she married Lynn Mailloux of Sturgis. Over the years they had two daughters. She was a homemaker, but for many years ran an in-home daycare with her eldest daughter, Linda. She enjoyed watching many of these children grow up, graduate, and start families of their own. Many of these families still continued to visit her years later. Her Christian faith was a central part of her life. There was never a week when she didn't have a Bible Study meeting taking place in her house. She was on many prayer chains throughout the years and loved her church family and friends. These wonderful people took her to church, appointments, shopping, and various places. A special thank you for the many neighbors, family, and friends who watched over her and helped her whenever she needed it. She was certainly blessed!!

Phyllis Eileen Mailloux, 94, of Sturgis, died on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Monument Health Home+ Hospice House in Rapid City.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Hartman of Rapid City; grandchildren, Jennifer (Cody) Hill of Rapid City and Brandon Hartman of Pierre; and great-granddaughter, Autumn Hill of Rapid City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Lynn; daughter, Linda; brother, Donald; and sisters, Evelyn and Elaine.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Rev. Linda Grenz. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.
