Quentin Victor Shuck, 87, Piedmont, died at the VA Black Hills Fort Meade Facility on Thursday, July 27, 2006.
Quentin was born April 26, 1919 at Belvidere, SD, to Edgar Fenton and Mattie Leone (Shore) Shuck. He was badly injured in a playground accident as a small child which affected him the rest of his life. He lived with his parents at the farm north of Belvidere until they moved to a farm on Grace Coolidge Creek near Hermosa. He was drafted into the US Army in March of 1942 and served honorably until 1945. He worked at many jobs until his health forced him into assisted living facilities until he moved into the nursing care facility at Fort Meade.
Quentin was a lifetime member of VFW post 1273 in Rapid City.
Survivors include his brother Bob Shuck, Ashland, OR and many nieces and nephews including Bob Dale, Sturgis, Raymond Dale, Rapid City, David Dale, Tilford; nieces, Ellen Stoll, Piedmont and Elaine Bauer, Rapid City.
Committal services will be 2 pm Monday July 31, 2006 at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with Pastor Charles Hall officiating. Burial with military honors will be provided by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends are encouraged to meet at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis prior to leaving for the cemetery.
