BLACK HAWK | Ralph C. Thayer, 92, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Ralph was a lifelong resident of Live Oak, CA until five years ago when he moved to Rapid City to be closer to two of his daughters. He was born in Live Oak to Marie (Young) and Chester Thayer and was a great-grandson of Hezekiah Luther, the founder of Live Oak. Ralph served in the Army during WWII in England where he met his wife, Lilian. Ralph leaves behind four children, Carol Harris of Paris, TX, Julie Wood of Black Hawk, Jean Cheatwood of Rapid City, and Paul Thayer of Yuba City; eleven grandchildren, Derek Harris, Sheri Gotofski, Shawn Belding, Tracy Wood, Kevin Wood, Kelly Lawson, Ryan Belding, Dylan Thayer, Colton Thayer, and Tanner Thayer; and eleven great-grandchildren. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two sisters, Phyliss and Yvonne. Arrangements are pending and will be published at a later date. The burial will be at the Live Oak Cemetery. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
