Obituary

Ramona was born November 19, 1921, on a farm outside of Springfield, MN, to Louis and Caroline Blocker. She was born the 3rd of eight children. She graduated from Springfield High School and worked for a local store. She met her future husband, Glenn Hansen, and they were married, April 26, 1942 at Cannon Falls, MN. Ramona moved to Ft. Bragg, NC with her new husband and son, Gary after Glenn was drafted during WWII. They remained there until August 1947, when they moved to Hot Springs, SD with their two boys, Gary and Randall "Randy". In October 1948, they transferred to the Fort Meade VA Hospital and they had their 3rd boy, Robert "Bob" a year later. She began employment at Fort Meade VA Hospital in 1954, and worked there until 1980, when she retired as Chief of Ward Administration.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church from October 1948 until her death. She was a member of the quilting club, Ladies Circle, Red Hats, Boulder Canyon Ladies Club, Senior Citizens Center, and enjoyed many other activities. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the American Federation of Government Employees.
Ramona Mary (Blocker) Hansen, 97, Sturgis, died Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Garden Hills Assisted Living in Spearfish.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Hansen of Mesa, AZ, Randall "Randy" Hansen of Sturgis, SD, and Robert "Bob" Hansen of Conneaut, OH; three sisters, Naomi Snegosky of CA, JoAnn Class of MN, and Marlene Flaig of WI; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn Hansen; one brother, Gene Blocker; three sisters, Mildred Meyer, Roseland Toich, and Lavonne Bly; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Kay Hansen.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Grace Lutheran Church in Sturgis, SD, with Pastor Kris Garlick officiating. Interment will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
