Ray C. Edwards was born near Dupree to Clarke and Marie (Maynard) Edwards. He attended Lone Tree and Dupree schools.
Ray worked as a truck driver, construction worker, owned Ray's Repair, parts manager for several Ford dealerships, owned pizza business, deputy sheriff, managed and maintenance at an apartment building, trainer at Northern Hills Training Center, and vehicle parts delivery person. He also was a volunteer firefighter and fire chief in Dupree and a firefighter in Sturgis. Ray was also a Mason.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Dorothy Rae; parents Clarke and Marie Edwards; brother, Gaylord; grandson, Shannon Kusser; great-grandson, Patrick Gorman; daughter-in-law, Vicky Edwards; parents-in-law, Ray and Alva Horton; and brothers-in-law, Rayford, Marvin and Alvin Horton.
Dorothy L.O. (Horton) Edwards was born to Ray and Alva (Bekken) Horton in Zeona, SD. She attended schools in Ekalaka, Sorum, Nisland, and graduated Faith High School.
Dorothy worked at the Post Office, bookkeeper at Ray's Repair, clothing salesperson, meat cutter, nurse's assistant, laborer at wood assembly business, carpenter assistant, part-time bartender, owned a pizza parlor, managed and maintenance at an apartment building, and trainer at Northern Hills Training Center. Both Ray and Dorothy bowled, played in the "Happy Times Band," and were members of Good Sam's Camping Club.
She preceded her husband, Ray, in death. Preceding her in death were daughter, Dorothy Rae; parents, Ray and Alva Horton; brothers, Rayford, Marvin, and Alvin; grandson, Shannon Kusser, great-grandson, Patrick Gorman; daughter-in-law, Vicky Edwards; parents-in-law, Clarke and Marie Edwards; and brother-in-law, Gaylord Edwards.
They are survived by their children, Harlan (Lois) Edwards, Judy (Mike) Gorman, Russel (Carol) Edwards, and Jean (Bob) Kusser; grandchildren, Robert John (Sara) Edwards, Alan Edwards, Robert Rogers, Jeffrey Gorman, Jason (Donna) Gorman, Daniel Edwards, Cynthia (Levi) Sabin, Trent Edwards, Trevor Edwards, Jessica Kusser, and Joshua (Alisha) Kusser; great-grandchildren, Lea and Lilly Ann Edwards, Sawyer, Alan Jr, Dalton, and Austin Edwards, Robbie Rogers, Paris, Ashley, and Raquel Gorman, Michael, Thomas, Christopher, and Elisabeth Gorman, McKaela Edwards, Luke and Madilyn Sabin, Brittany Roberts, Zachary Uselman, and Kaisen and Roanin Kusser; great-great-grandchildren, Brelynn Edwards, and Landon and McKenzie Wright; siblings, Shirley (Gerald) Schmautz, Rollis (Rosemarie) Horton, Lawrence (Paula) Horton, Mary Ann Horton, and Clarice Edwards; and many nieces and nephews, many, many "adopted" children, grandchildren, etc. and numerous friends.
They were preceded in death by their parents; Ray's brother, Gaylord; Dorothy's brothers, Rayford, Marvin, and Alvin; grandson, Shannon Kusser; great-grandson, Patrick Gorman; and daughter-in-law, Vicky Edwards.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 21, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Onge Church of Christ with Pastor Del Neumeister officiating. Burial will follow at the Dupree Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
