Obituary

Gina was born to Helga Seidel on June 3, 1957, in Baden-Baden, West Germany. After Helga married Dale Jones, who was stationed at a US army base in Kaiserslautern, Dale adopted Gina in 1959, and she joyfully celebrated that day with him every year. With a younger brother in tow, the family moved back to the States to the Jones family ranch at Stoneville, SD. Following another move to Belle Fourche, they settled permanently in Sturgis, SD, where Troy was born several years later.

Apart from living as a foreign exchange student in Germany, her college years, and a tour of duty in the military, Gina lived the rest of her life in Sturgis. Throughout her childhood, she spent significant time at the Jones and Wahl (Union Center) ranches with grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins. She was a member of 4-H and German Club. She graduated high school in 1975 and attended South Dakota State University in Brookings and Western Dakota Area Vo-Tech, graduating with honors. She entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Ft. Riley, Kansas, and near Ulm, West Germany. While in the army she met her first husband, Tim Jones, and they had one child, Brandon, in 1981. On April 15, 2010, she received her United States Citizenship.

Back in Sturgis with Brandon, Gina worked as an office manager for Western Land Brokers and Auctioneers and as a bartender at the Pyramid Beer Garden and the Oasis in Sturgis. She met the husband who would love and care for her the rest of her life, Joseph Mack, and they were married in May 1999.

Gina was an avid reader her entire life and consistently found outlets for her talents, German language, crafting hand-made greeting cards, and writing poetry, having "Ebony & Ivory" published in "Our World's Best Loved Poems." She enjoyed learning about new things and exploring the world. She loved caring for her yard and garden and on weekends, she and Joe could often be found out in the Hills rock hunting or in the winter season cheering on the RUSH Hockey Team. Her friends and family will all attest to her commitment to staying connected and to her capacity to love those around her.
