The lure was too great when Renee received an invite to join the fishing group that had been assembled. Bill had her rod and reel, bait and tackle ready on the boat. Aunt Daisy and Uncle Al were joining in to say, "The fishin' is great!" It was an invite she could not pass up. For the family that loved her dearly, this news is sudden and shocking. 

Renee Lynn Plumb was born to Alvin and Daisy (Merrill) Plumb on June 30, 1952. She grew up in Huron, SD, and attended Huron High School. In high school Renee was a member of the school paper staff, the National Honor Society, and a cheerleader. She went on to study at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD attaining a degree in Social Work. She began her career working for the Watertown Department of Social Services. She also spent many years working for the Alex Johnson Hotel, in Rapid City. After her move to Pierre, SD she worked for the Kings Inn Motel, later being employed by the State of South Dakota, in Pierre, where she retired from.

Bill Opsahl was the true love of Renee's life. When she met Bill, she knew she had found the love of her life. They enjoyed many fishing trips together, so Pierre was the perfect location for them to make their home. Good weather or bad, they could usually be found in their boat on Lake Oahe; fishing the day away. They also enjoyed spending time with their dog Brandy, their faithful companion. They lived together in Pierre until Bills death on January 13, 2021. 

Renee is preceded in death by her fiance, Bill Opsal and his son Michael Opsahl, her parents Alvin and Daisy Plumb, maternal and paternal grandparents, along with many loved aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. Renee is survived by a contingent of family members from Renee and Bill's family along with Bill's family: Brother Jerry (Wendy) Opsahl, sister Cindy (Steve) Closset, sons Robert Procko (Kimberly), Bryan Procko (Joyce), three grandchildren (Emily, Verdani and Michael) and one great-grandchild (Landon) and dear friends that are all mourning the loss of one of their own. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a site on the Missouri River where her ashes and those of her beloved fiance Bill and their cherished dog Brandy will be released over the waters that played such an important role in her life.
