Reuben Fischer, 93, Spearfish and formerly of Sturgis, died at the Dorsett Health Care on Friday evening, May 22, 2009.

Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Sturgis, SD, with Rev. Joel Higgins officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.

Reuben was born October 22, 1915, at Medina, ND, to William G. and Christina (Klein) Fischer. He grew up and attended school at Steele, ND. He married Mary M. Oster on March 14, 1937, in Steele, ND. The couple farmed there until 1960 when they moved to Sturgis.

Reuben worked in construction as a carpenter. He worked for Corner Construction in Rapid City until his retirement.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Dorven (Gerri) Fischer and Ron (Margie) Fischer, all of Sturgis; two daughters, Marilyn (David) Jerome, Portland, OR, and Ardene (John) Martin, Florence, KY; one brother, Wilmer Fischer, Bismarck, ND; one sister, Edna Remmick, Steele, ND; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two daughters, two daughters-in-law, and three brothers.

A memorial has been established.
