Rex James DeYonge, age 61, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019 in Sturgis, SD.

He was born October 13, 1958, in Slayton, MN, to Johannes "John" and Veronica "Vonnie" DeYonge. He was a 1976 graduate of Slayton High School. He made Sturgis, SD, his home and spent the past 20 years working for Quinn Construction in Rapid City. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, fishing, hunting, and searching for agates, fossils, and crystals in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Left to cherish his memory are Lida Hayford of Sturgis; son, Justin of Maple Grove, MN; daughters, Ashley and Taylor of Parker, CO; grandson, Ezra Corey of Parker, CO; mother, Vonnie DeYonge of Edgerton, MN; brothers & sisters, Ken of Hadley, MN, Bill (Debbie) of Pierre, SD, Rochelle (Kent) Hasse of Chaska, MN, Lori Speckmeier of Roseville, MN, Jeff (Tanya) of Glencoe, MN, Melinda Roberts of Mankato, MN, and Jim (Lynette) of Slayton, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Rex was preceded in death by his father, John; brother, Tom; and sister-in-law, Sandy DeYonge.

Visitation with the family will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN.
A Celebration of Life will also be held at the Side Hack Saloon, Sturgis, SD, on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
