Reynolds Rodriguez, 66 of Sturgis, died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was a decorated U. S. Marine Sgt; he served from 1965 to 1970, honored with a Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Medal, Vietnamese Service Medals and Good Conduct Medal. A proud Native American, Marine, father and grandfather!! A best friend, a loving and helping soul, with a generous heart! A teacher, parent, respected friend to the friendless and a helper to the helpless!! Will be "forever loved and forever respected!" Survivors include his wife, Margaret Rodriguez; a daughter, Sherry Rodriguez, Hemet, CA; a son, Ryan (Rhiannon) Rodriguez, Sturgis, SD and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leno and Rita Rodriguez. An all night Wake Service will take place at 6:00pm Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Mother Butler Center in Rapid City. A memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Black Hills National Cemetery, near Sturgis, with Chaplain (Ret.) Herbert B. Cleveland officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Sturgis Veteran's Honor Guard. A memorial has been established.
