Delta Junction resident Richard Allen Fountain, 47, died July 26, 2012, in Sturgis Regional Hospital in South Dakota.
He was born Dec. 2, 1964, in Fairbanks, the fifth child of nine children born to Perry and Mollene Fountain.
He grew up in the Interior, attending school in Fairbanks, North Pole, and Delta Junction. Richard was great with kids. His nieces and nephews loved him dearly, often pretending to be him while playing. He loved motorcycles, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping with family. He was funny and hardworking even in adversity.
His family stated, "If life could be measured by our mistakes and imperfections, Richard lived like tomorrow would never come and loved as fiercely as the sun shines. We loved him dearly and he will be missed."
He is survived by his father, Perry W. Fountain of North Carolina; son and daughter, Dustin and Kory of Anchorage; brothers, John and wife Donna, Mark, David and wife Donna, Keith and wife Sierra; sisters, Lisa Larranaga, Lydia and husband Adam Heineken, Leanne and husband Gary Isaacson; Sarah Fountain of North Carolina and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Mollene Fountain.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Chena Lakes River Park Pavilion. Close friends and family are invited to share and celebrate the good times with Richard.
