Obituary

Richard "Dick" Garold Johnson was born October 27, 1942 in Spearfish, SD, to Jerome and Beatrice (Parett) Johnson. He attended school in Igloo and Edgemont, moving to Sturgis and later to Rapid City. Dick enlisted in the Army Reserve in the 1960's. He married Betty O'Neill on Dec. 21, 1968 in Box Elder, making their home in Ashland Heights. One daughter, Jessie, was born to this union.

Dick worked at various locations and positions including, Wood Span Mfg., Kenwood Mobile Home Mfg., as a school bus driver in the Douglas School System, and at Ultramax Ammunition Mfg. Dick also loved country music and played for years with The Roadmaster Band. In his spare time, Dick enjoyed being outdoors trapping, hunting and fishing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Richard "Dick" Garold Johnson, 72, of Hill City, passed away October 13, 2015 in Rapid City.

Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 19, at 2:00 pm at Kinkade Funeral Chapel, Sturgis with Pastor H. Wayne Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery, Sturgis.

Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 18, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the funeral chapel. A memorial has been established.

The family extends an invitation to join them for fellowship and refreshment at the Rapid City American Legion Post 22, 818 E. St. Patrick St. following the burial.

Those left to mourn his passing include his wife of almost 47 years, Betty; daughter, Jessie Lichterman; grandchildren, Dawn, Derek & Dean; sisters, Rita Colvin, Ramona Johnson, Regina Thompson and Catherine Johnson; brothers, Roger, Russell, Rodney & Jerome and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Beatrice; a sister, Bonnie and a brother, Ronald.
