Richard "Rich" Allen Griffith was born March 22, 1970, in Rapid City, SD. His parents were Thomas and Sharon (Schmaus) Griffith.

Rich attended several elementary schools while growing up as he moved around with his family in South Dakota, Oregon, and Wyoming. He would talk of many memories from the different places he lived, but his fondest memories were spent in Montana at the 'Schmaus House' with his Grandpa Carl, Grandma Margaret, and brother, Scott. Many a story was told of the trouble Rich and Scott would get into all in the name of having fun and picking up cans with Grandma Margaret. He graduated from Sundance High School and left directly after graduation for boot camp for the Army National Guard. He was honorably discharged in January 1995.

Rich married Marla Ingalls on June 17, 1995. They lived in Gillette, WY. Rich worked as a mechanic, machinist, roustabout, and laborer while living in Gillette. They had one daughter, Kaylee Rae Griffith. They later divorced.

Rich enjoyed hunting/trapping, fishing, working on vehicles, and helping many people. After moving to South Dakota, Rich was very involved in the AA program. He touched many lives while being active in AA and will always be remembered by those people he helped.

Rich passed away surrounded by family on November 2, 2017, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Surviving are his daughter, Kaylee Griffith; her mother, Marla Griffith; his father, Thomas (Karen) Griffith; brother, Scott Riddell (Jody Nunez); sisters, Gwen Young and Jamie (Tim) Rath and children; brother, Sam Charles (Tori Sallee) and children; and DeeDee (Ron) Sowers.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Richards, and his grandparents.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 9, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor David Baer officiating. Inurnment will be at Bear Butte Cemetery.
