Richard Thomas Harp was born on December 21, 1935 in Grafton, IL, to Leonard and Katie Lee (Echert) Harp. Richard graduated from high school and attended college for his Associate's Degree. He went on to be an insurance salesman.
Richard met the love of his life, Beulah Cox, and they were married on July 3, 1955. In 1954, when he was just 19 years old, he enlisted in the United States Army and he was honorably discharged in 1956.
Richard Harp, 84, of Spearfish, went to meet his Lord on Sunday, November 29, 2020, at Spearfish Canyon Healthcare.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beulah Harp; two sons; five daughters; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Katie and Leonard Harp; and grandsons, Kurtis DuWayne Tallmage, and Nathan Wayne and Steven Wyatt Elrod.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, with Rev. Roderick Brown officiating. Committal services with military honors will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis.
