Richard Lee Bracha, Jr, 61, Deadwood, SD passed away at Ft. Meade VA Medical Center on September 7, 2024. There will be a private family inurnment at Black Hills National Cemetery. The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.
Richard was born February 28, 1963 at Deadwood, SD to Richard and Marjo (Tietz) Bracha Sr. He was raised in Terraville, attending Lead-Deadwood Schools growing up, graduating from Lead-Deadwood High School in 1981. Leaving for the U.S. Navy shortly after graduation. He was very proud of his four years of service in the U.S. Navy.
After being honorably discharged, he returned to the Lead Deadwood area where he worked at Homestake Mining Co for nine years. After leaving Homestake, he moved to Nebraska, then Branson, Missouri, before returning to the Northern Hills.
He enjoyed spending time at home with his puppies. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed drives through the Black Hills.
On February 14, 2015, he married Diane Vandenberg.
He is survived by his wife, Diane of Deadwood, SD; son, Michael Bracha, of Lead; step-son, Joseph (Ashley Holtquist) Vandenberg; sisters, Wanda (Rodney) Merritt of Deadwood, SD; Cynthia (Ron Witte) Baca of Lead, SD; niece & nephews, Amanda Baca, Shane & Seth Merritt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Sr. and Marjo Bracha.
