Obituary

Richard Lee Kostelecky was born in Lemmon, SD, on December 21, 1960. He attended grade school and high school in Lemmon, where he graduated in 1979. In 1980, he decided to attend Mitchell Vo-Tech joining their Electrical Construction program. He graduated in 1982 as an Apprentice Electrician. He then moved to Watertown, SD, and later to Rapid City, SD, to work for Muth Electric. In 1993, he decided to travel nationwide working for Interstates Electric & Engineering, whose home office is in Sioux Center, IA. While working for them, he was foreman for several jobs around the country, specializing in flour mills and ethanol plants. In 2004, he decided to move back to the Black Hills of South Dakota where he purchased a home in Sturgis and rejoined the Muth Electric team in Rapid City.

Rick had several "loves" in his life. One of his "pride & joys" was his Harley Davidson motorcycle which he traveled the country with along with his friends each summer. He showed off his carpentry skills with woodworking projects that he made for family and friends, and he appreciated muscle cars from his youth to his present day Mustang Cobra. Four-wheeling in the Black Hills was another hobby that kept him busy in his spare time.

He passed from this life on August 14, 2012, at his home in Sturgis, SD. Surviving family members include his parents, George & Violet (Evans) Kostelecky, Lemmon, SD; five sisters, Pamela (Dick) Bloedel, South Weber, UT, Victoria (Dave) Sonn, Lemmon, SD, Angela (Steve) Hintz, Phoenix, AZ, Georgina (John) Shankle, Corona, CA, and Melissa (David) Eich, Bridgewater, SD; eleven nephews; two nieces; five grandnephews; and three grandnieces.
