Richard Allen Lager passed away in Rapid City, South Dakota, on October 7, 2019. At Richard's request there will not be a formal service held.  A private family committal service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Saturday, November 2, 2019 followed by a celebration of his life with family and friends at the Carthage Community Center at 3:30 pm.

Richard's earlier years were spent growing up in Carthage, South Dakota where he graduated from Carthage High School in 1973. Following graduation, he attended Dakota State College in Madison, South Dakota.

Richard work in various jobs of furniture sales and food service. His spare time was spent playing baseball on the Carthage Baseball League, fishing, hunting, and playing cards with friends and family.  He was a lifelong avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins.

Richard is survived by his son, Joe (Joni) Lager; daughter, Chrissy (Dan) Kirkpatrick and their children, Grant and Jack; daughter, Mary Lager and her children, Lucca and Odin; step daughter, Melissa Bloomberg and her son, Braylon; brothers, Randy (Pam) Lager and Rodney (Kathy) Bushman; and his nieces, Laura and Sarah Bushman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Lager and Viola Lorenz; sister, Mary; and his grandparents.

Richard has a strong circle of friends and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
