Richard (Dick) Merle Rasmussen passed away at the Sturgis Hospital on Monday, March 13, 2023, at the age of 84.

Dick was born to Floyd and Alice (Meyerink) Rasmussen on October 18, 1938. He attended Signal #3 for elementary school and graduated from Platte High School in 1956. He served in the 137th Engineer National Guard for over 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting with friends.

Dick married Mary Ann (Quinn) Morman on November 20, 1989. They spent 33 years together until Mary Ann moved to an Assisted Living Apartment in Rapid City, SD, following illnesses. Dick and Mary Ann owned a construction business for several years until Dick's retirement.

Survivors are his wife Mary Ann, Rapid City, SD; brother John (Dee) Rasmussen, Platte, SD; niece Mari Beth (Daren) Baumberger, Dell Rapids, SD; nephew Jeremy (Angie) Rasmussen and their children, Sadie Rasmussen, Watertown, SD, and Piper Rasmussen, Platte, SD; Mary Ann's children: daughter Pat Ashley, Sturgis, SD, son Greg Morman and their extended families; and many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Floyd (November 1993), his mother Alice (January 2007), older brother Gene (July 2009), nephew Jamie Rasmussen (May 1973), and Mary Ann's children Brian Morman and Ann Morman.

Memorial Services for Richard "Dick" Rasmussen age 84 of Sturgis, SD formerly of Platte, SD, will be held on Monday March 20 at 10:00 AM at Mount-Smith Funeral Home, Platte, SD. Family burial will take place before the me morial Service at 9 AM.
