Richard Harris Millikan, 64, of Deadwood, died Thursday, September 15, 2011, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, September 19, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Richard was born May 11, 1947, in San Bernardino, CA, to Forrest and Mary (Stewart) Millikan. He grew up and went to elementary school in San Bernardino and high school in Indio, CA.

Richard was drafted into the US Army in 1969 and spent one year in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1971.

Richard married Lynne Skyberg on February 28, 1973, in Willamina, OK. For most of his working years, Richard was a concrete finisher and belonged to the Cement Masons Union. He retired in 1998. In 2007, he and Lynne moved to Deadwood, SD, from Desert Hot Springs, CA. Richard belonged to the VFW in both Deadwood and Desert Hot Springs, CA.

Richard is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lynne of Deadwood; sons, Anthony Harris (Bobbi) Millikan of Des Moines, IA and Richard Thomas (Kathy Mangum) Millikan of Lead, SD; daughters, Rene Ellen (Mike Eves) Millikan of Deadwood and Lisa Elizabeth (Ryan) Arnoldussen of Pearl City, HI; two sisters, Janice of Sacramento, CA, and Sandra of Oklahoma City, OK; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents and one sister.
