Richard Lee Morse, 73, passed away July 28, 2024, at his home near Newell.

Richard was born on February 24, 1951, in Mitchell, South Dakota to Norman and Nellie (Breen) Morse. He grew up in Wagner, SD and then moved to Rapid City. Richard was a master mechanic for Chyrsler before joining the National Guard. He proudly served in the National Guard for 32 years before retiring. Richard was a mechanic in the guards and worked on C120 and Sherpa airplanes and Black Hawk helicopters.

He and his wife, Melody raised three children, Stacy, Amy, and Travis. Richard married Virginia Stearns in 1999 and they purchased their retirement farm where they cared for crazy critters. His spare time was spent improving their home and doing carpentry.

Richard was a kind and caring man who loved his family and his country. He will be missed and always loved.

He is survived by his wife, Virigina; sons, Stacy Morse and Travis Morse; daughter, Amy Hurd; stepson, Bret Stearns; stepdaughter, Heather Rowe-Holland; sisters, Janet (Richard) Dlugosz and Rhonda (Tim) Robertson; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
