Richard Lloyd Moss, 83, of Rapid City, SD, died Saturday, May 11, 2024, at his home in Rapid City, SD.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD, with visitation one hour prior to services.

Richard was born in Webster, SD, to Harvey and Helen (Block) Moss. His parents divorced   when he was young and he was raised by his stepfather, Lawrence Ratdke.

Richard married Janice Larson, on January 17, 1963. They had one daughter, Sheri. Richard worked as a roofer for many years and after retiring he delivered papers for the Rapid City Journal to keep himself busy. Richard believed in God and regularly attended church. For many years he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Richard enjoyed watching sports and often attended basketball games at St. Thomas Moore and School of Mines. In the summer you could find him in the stands watching Post 22 baseball games. Richard had a passion for hunting, and fishing; however, his greatest love was for family. Richard spent many years walking his grandkids then great grandkids to and from school. Richard had the biggest smile and most contagious laugh. Richard was immensely loved by his family and friends and will be incredibly missed.

Survivors include his wife: Janice of Rapid City, SD; daughter: Sheri (Tal) Petersen, of Rapid City, SD; four grandchildren: Nicole Williams (Richard McDonald), of Black Hawk, SD, Joshua (Mikenzi) Petersen, of Rapid City, SD, Tifany (Jeremy) Delahoyde, of Spearfish, SD, and Katelyn (Dominic) Bradford, of Black Hawk, SD; seven great-grandchildren: Brooke, Logan, Camden, Kendyl, Berkley, Drew, and Easton; brothers: Larry Ratdke, AZ, and Gary Moss, Castlewood, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Carol Wansing, brother, Dennis Moss, along with two brothers who passed away during early childhood, Harlan, and Jimmy.
