Richard Satterlee, 88, Piedmont, died Friday, June 5, 2009, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Richard was a farmer, rancher, realtor and veteran of WWII. He approached every task as though he were killing snakes. A charismatic self motivated creative innovative entrepreneur, his highest place of influence was his family. Richard was known for his love of fun and abundant curiosity. He lived as he died loving the land.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Gladys; children, Katie Crow (CA), Beverly Collins (TX), Helen Francis (MO), Laura Horn (MO), and Steve Satterlee (SD); sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and Mattie, his beloved golden retriever.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Evelyn (Baird) Satterlee; his twin brother, Robert; one sister, Dorothy McMurtrey; and an infant brother, Baird.

Visitation will be held at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis on Monday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Interment services will follow on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery with Pastor Randy Horn officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Sturgis Veteran's Honor Guard.
