Robert Arnold Alfson, 80, of Rapid City, SD, died Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Monument Health Hospice House in Rapid City.

Robert A. Alfson was born to Kenneth and Fern (Klassy) Alfson on April 28, 1943, at Chester, SD.  He was raised in the Madison area, where he attended school graduating from Madison High School in 1961. He then joined the South Dakota Army National Guard and started working for Western Electric, a division of AT&T.  He retired from AT&T in 1990, starting to work for Western Telecommunication, retiring again in 2010.

Bob "Alfie" married Ruth "Ruthie" Esther Walker on January 30, 1981.  Ruthie with three kids of hers and three kids of Bob's.

When he wasn't working, Bob enjoyed hunting, serving as a volunteer fire fighter, watching NASCAR, working in his garage, racing Baja cars, Children's ministry, Children's church, teaching Sunday School and he loved his Royal Rangers.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth, Rapid City; children, Donna (Doug Simons) Lord, Rapid City, Diane (Tracy Steiner) Alfson, Black Hawk, Dan (Kari) Alfson, Custer, David Alfson, Doug (Erin) Alfson, and Darrin (Erna) Alfson, all of Rapid City; several grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth (Joyce) Alfson, Madison, Don (Macy) Alfson, Gilroy CA, Terry (Dee) Alfson, The Dalles, OR.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Fern Alfson.

Memorial Services for Robert will be Thursday, November 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Church at 1202 North Maple Avenue in Rapid City, SD.  Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
