Robert "Bob" Ballinger, also known as "Lindy", 73, of Sturgis, SD, passed away on July 15, 2023.
Bob was born December 1, 1949, in Longmont, CO, to Guy and Geraldine Ballinger. He graduated from Longmont High School, then enlisted in the United States Air Force. After he was discharged, he went on to work at Fitzsimons Army Medical Hospital. Bob then decided to become a plumber which he did for many years in the Longmont area. He also moved on to become a Building Inspector for Billings Montana.
Bob married his first wife Connie Bock and had two children, Laurie and Lin. Bob and Connie parted ways and he married Karen Linn, and they had a daughter, Kari.
Bob is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Laura (Donnie) Schultz of Berthoud, CO; Brother, Charles "Chuck" (Pat) of Frankfort, KY; his children, Laurie of Longmont, son Lin of Loveland and Kari of Parker; grandchildren, Brandon, Jacob, Joshua, Brady, Christian, Summer, Kaelinn and Shayla; great grandchild, Blake, and 2 on the way; and nephew, Kolby Schultz of Johnstown.
Bob is proceeded in death by his father, Guy Ballinger; mother, Geraldine Ballinger-Olgilvie; stepfather, "Doc" Olgilvie; and niece, Kelli Schultz- Peterson.
Bob had many hobbies and places he loved; he liked to hunt and fish, spending time with family up in Big Elk Meadows. He had a knack for gardening. He was also known as a terrific cook. Later Bob moved to Sturgis, SD, where he spent the remainder of his life. He had numerous friends in Sturgis that he considered family, as well. He spent a lot of time at the VFW (Veteran of Foreign Wars). Bob loved life, his friends and family.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Sturgis, SD at the VFW at a later date.
