Robert Louis Kennebeck, 84, Sturgis, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Sturgis Regional Hospital.
Visitation, with the family present, will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2011 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD.
Memorial services will be on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis, SD with Pastor Lloyd Lemke officiating. Inurnment will be at Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
Bob was born on May 21, 1926 to Louis and Pearl Kennebeck in Kellogg, MN. He lived there until he joined the Navy and served in World War II. Bob then enlisted in the Airforce and was stationed at Ellsworth Airforce Base. During this tour of duty he met Caroline Clara Pawlowski. He was married to the love of his life on May 24, 1950 in Sturgis, SD. This union was blessed with four children. He worked as a ranch hand and in the logging business. His most enjoyable days were spent on the back of a horse and in later years, watching bullriding.
Survivors include his wife, Caroline of Sturgis, SD; children, Nancy (Darrel) Cox of Vale, SD, Ron (Ellen) Kennebeck of Sturgis, SD, Ellen (Roger) O'Grady of Sturgis, SD, and Rhonda (Roy) Waterland of Vale, SD. He had nine grandchildren, Tonya, Kip, Zach (Marie), Jennifer (Clint), Jessica, Justin (Jerri), Jamie (Domico), Rachel and Renee; three step-grandchildren, Amanda, Jeff and David; and seven great grandchildren, Jaymin, Marisela, Caeden, Dax, Kara, Brooke and DJ. One sister Kathleen Kennebeck of Wabasha, MN and a special niece Barb (Bill) Deming of Wabasha, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sons.
A memorial will be established to Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis.
