Robert "Jim" Michelson, 77, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021 at Monument Health Hospice in Rapid City.

Jim was born on January 12, 1944 in Rapid City, SD to Howard and Mary (Hannon) Michelson.

Husband, father, Pappa, pastor, brother, and friend were a few of the titles he went by. He was also an entrepreneur, carpenter, foster parent for over 20 years, veteran, fisherman, dancer, and infamous jokester.  Jim had an outrageous sense of humor, and will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved him.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Cynthia; his children, Julie, CeeCee, Lucas, Cassandra, Larissa, Rebecca, Lewis, Timothy, Nicole, and many, many foster children; twin sister, Jeannie; brother, Thomas; sister, Kathleen; 21 grandkids; and 24 great grand kids.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Howard; mother, Mary; sister, Chris; brother, John; and his daughter, Tina.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life in loving memory of Robert James Michelson on Sunday, September 19th, 2021 at 1 PM. Zymurcracy, a local veteran - owned craft brewery and tap room will host his celebration of life. Zymurcracy is located at 4624 Creek Drive #6 in Rapid City.

A Celebration of life service is an opportunity for family and friends to pay tribute to Jim while saying goodbye in a uniquely personal way. The family looks forward to the opportunity to take this time to celebrate and remember the life of their husband, father, and friend.

In honor of Jim's passion and enthusiasm for the Denver Broncos team we request friends and family wear NFL attire to the celebration. There will be some of Jim's favorite sweets available, in addition to a food truck on site (Loud American).
