Obituary

Robert "Borb" Paul Borbely, 46, of Belle Fourche, SD, passed away Monday, July 13, 2015, due to a motorcycle crash.

He was born June 14, 1969, in Kadoka, SD. In 1976, he and his family moved to Pleasant Valley near Sturgis. Robert graduated High School in 1988 at Sturgis Brown High School. Following high school, Robert attended Western Dakota VoTech for auto body.

In May of 1991 Robert completed Basic Training for the Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base. His first duty assignment was Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. During his time in the Air Force, he deployed to multiple locations for various amounts of time including Kunsan South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Diego Garcia and Qatar. He served in the active duty Air Force for 22 years and retired at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska as a Master Sergeant. I.Y.A.A.Y.A.S. Robert and his family settled down in Belle Fourche, SD. He worked as the Director of Environmental Services at David M. Dorset Health Care Center.

He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson with the American Legion Riders around the Black Hills, camping, and spending time with his family. He was proud to serve his country, shared his beliefs, and supported those who needed him most.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberley Borbely; his three children, Michael, Cheyanne, and Mason Borbely; his two sisters Jodie (Mike) Lehrkamp and Dixie (Tom) Opheim; his mother-in-law, Barbara Faulk; his sister-in-law, Katie (Doug) Metayer; his nieces, Kelsey Faulk, and Tosha and Lexi Opheim; and his nephews, Michael (Kori), Sig, Carl Lehrkamp, and Cade Opheim.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard "Dick" and Marjorie (Weller) Borbely; and his father-in-law, Rick Faulk.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 24, 2015, at LifeSpring Wesleyan Church in Sturgis, SD. Pastor Mark Fuhr will officiate the service. Following the service, an escort will ride with the family to Black Hills National Cemetery where Robert will be buried at 2:30 p.m. On Thursday July 23rd, a visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

A memorial fund has been established to Northern Hills American Legion Riders.
