LEAD | Robert S. Johnson passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was a wonderful husband, father, and proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born and raised in Moorhead, Minnesota and relocated to Lead, South Dakota in 1987. Robert served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era from 1970 to 1971. He worked as a heavy equipment operator until retirement. As a great lover of the outdoors, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Robert is survived by his wife, Kimberlee; a son, Jacob Johnson; a daughter, Kristine Johnson; his brother, John (Sandy) Johnson; his sisters, Virginia Johnson, Kathy (Vern) Grussing, and Becky (Bob) Casey; his grandchildren, Cheyenne Smith and Harmony Long; and his great-grandchild, Kimberly Lock. There will be a graveside service Monday, November 17, 2014 at 1:00 p.m at Black Hills National Cemetery. Friends and family are asked to meet at Black Hills Funeral Home in Sturgis at 12:30 p.m. prior to leaving for the cemetery. A Celebration of Life for Robert will be Friday, November 21, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. at the VFW Club in Deadwood.
