Robert Rudolph Schaaf, 90, New Underwood, SD, died Friday, June 9, 2006, at his residence.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at the Black Hills National Cemetery with the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard providing military honors.
Robert was born August 27, 1915, at Newark, NJ, to Rudolph and Myrtle (Fisher) Schaaf. He received a degree in Civil Engineering from Newark College of Engineering and a Masters degree in Engineering Management from George Washington University. Robert served in the US Navy from 1941 until 1945. He was Chief of Design Division for the Navy Dept. Bureau of Yards and Docks. He served as a civil engineer in the Navy and later in the Civil Service. He retired in 1975 from the Civil Service as the Chief of Design in Washington, DC.
He was a life long member of the American Legion and was an Eagle Scout.
Survivors include one sister,one son and his wife and two grandchildren.
