Robert Lowell Schuelke, 95, Mud Butte, SD, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip, SD.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5 p.m. until 7p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Faith, SD. A prayer service will begin at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2010 at St. Joseph's in Faith with Fr. Arnold Kari officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the Monument Hill Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mud Butte and the Monument Hill Cemetery.

Bob was born March 5, 1915 on the ranch his folks' homesteaded near Mud Butte. He attended the Miller-Schuelke and Olson-McDermott Schools along with most of his siblings.

Bob herded sheep, worked on the family ranch, and helped the neighbors until he enlisted in the US Army. He served his country honorably and upon his discharge he returned to the ranch.

On September 21, 1946, Bob married Lois L. Whitford at Broadus, MT. Together they continued to work on the Schuelke ranch and raise their family.

Survivors include one son, Larry Schuelke, Mud Butte; daughters, Beth and Scott Kennedy, Philip, SD, Darla and Rich Schwartz, Yankton, SD, Sherry and Reid Palmer, Faith; brother, Gerald Schuelke, Hill City, SD; sisters, Faye and Tom Hunn, Bryan, TX, Lois McInerny, Spearfish, McGee and Norman Vansickle, Spearfish, Mamie and Kenny Mailloux, Vale, Earleen Price, Maurine; 9 grandchildren; brother in laws, John Padgett, Bryan, TX, Jesse and Sue Whitford, Sturgis; sister in laws, Donna Seymour, Wheatland, WY, Sharon and Neil Collins, Newell, Betty Poppen, Garden City, SD, Janice and Clayton, Casteel, Vale.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; brothers, Everett, Darrel, Dean, and Harold; sisters, Berma and Lola; sister in laws, Evelyn, Adelle and Lou; brother in laws, Bobby Price, Walt Duprel, Dale Haines and Ted McInerny.
