Robert B. Taylor, 60, Sturgis, SD passed away Friday, August 29, 2025 at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital. There will be a graveside committal service at Black Hills National Cemetery at 3:00 PM, Friday, September 5, 2025.
Robert Byron Taylor was born June 2, 1965 to Glenn F. and Ella (Knittel) Taylor at Miller, SD. He was raised in Highmore, where he graduated from Highmore High School in 1983. He then entered the United States Air Force, receiving is honorable discharge April 29, 1991. He returned to South Dakota, where he married Tammy Olson on February 14, 1992 in Rapid City. A short-time later, they moved to Texas, where he worked for the Department of Energy until "retirement". His family then returned to the Black Hills, where he worked various retirement jobs. These retirement jobs allowed him to travel to many interesting locations overseas and in Alaska.
Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing, when he had time. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Especially, when it allowed him to practice his skills as a grill master.
Robert is survived by his wife, Tammy; children, Nicole Nikkila and Zachary (Katie) Taylor; sisters, Ellie (Rickey) Taylor, Pauline Wipf; brother, Joe Taylor; nephew, Tony (Debbie) Olson; mother-in-law, Millie (Mike) Fackelman; sister-in-law, Talona Olson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
