Robert Dale Trostheim, 59, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at his home in Black Hawk. He fought a hard battle with melanoma brain cancer but in the end the beast won.

Bob was the first born to Robert and Donna (Steel) Trostheim in Sioux City, Iowa on July 2, 1963. He would later welcome his brother, Ronald and sisters, Donnette "Sissy" and Debbie to the family.

He grew up and attended school in Sioux City graduating from high school in 1981. Following high school, he worked different odd jobs before attending Hayward College where he studied business.

Bob found work doing concrete construction and he enjoyed it so much he opted to do it for the next 39 years. He started Bob Trostheim Construction in 20 13 and his motto was "This is the foundation that we build on." He took pride in his work, making sure the jobs were done right.

Bob and Jeri met in 2008 and had their first date on January 1, 2009, they then married on August 27, 2011. Together they had the pleasure of going on several Carnival Cruises and they also enjoyed camping at Heart Ranch in Rapid City. Bob loved the ocean and saw one for the first time in 2009. He also liked doing home improvement projects.

In 2018, Bob graduated from Western Dakota Technical School with a degree in Computer Science.

His memory will be cherished by his wife, Jeri Trostheim; son, Danny Borchers; brother, Ronald Trostheim; sisters, Donnette "Sissy" Trostheim and Debbie (Ron) Sextro; stepson, Kyle Cross; six grandchildren; father-in-law, Elmer J. Pritchard; sister-in-law, Kris Rieling ; step sisters-in-law, Lisa Modrick , Julie Nauman, and Lana Sternhagen; numerous nieces and nephews; and his best canine buddy, Caesar.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Trostheim; father, Robert Duane Trostheim; mother-in-law, Phyllis A. Colbert; step father-in-law, Lee Colbert; step mother-in-law, Lucille Ann Pritchard; and brother-in-law, Jay Pritchard.

Bob's Celebration of Life

Will be held Saturday May 27, 2023, at Stage Stop Receptions located at 12340 Jenter Rd. in Summerset, SD from 2-4 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

There are rooms blocked out for lodging at the hotel directly in front of the reception hall. Summerset Hotel & Suites located at 7900 Stagestop Rd. in Summerset. Guests will need to call 605-301-4181 and reserve their room by April 20, 2023, and pay for the room with a credit/debit card. Guests will need to refer to " Bob Trostheim Memorial " when booking to receive a 10% discount on the room. The check in date reserved is May 26, 2023, and check out by May 29, 2023.
