Robert V. "Rob" Kinney, 78, Sturgis, died Thursday, September 1, 2016, at his residence.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis with Reverend Denzel Nonhof officiating. Burial will be at Bear Butte Cemetery at a later date.

Rob was born January 23, 1938, at Faith, SD, to John B. and Grace Marie (Boehrs) Kinney. He graduated from Sturgis High School in 1957. Prior to retirement, he was manager of cadet sales at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

Rob was a very private person. He was very proud of and enjoyed his Model A truck.

Survivors include his sisters, Sharon (Paul) Kilzer, Madrid, IA, and Coral Kinney Smith, Sturgis; brothers, DeLayne (Shirley) Kinney, Bill (Moira) Kinney, and Don (Peggy) Kinney, all of Sturgis; stepson, Tim Fisher, and daughter-in-law, Rhonda; two daughters-in-law, Kim Fisher and Sheila Fisher; grandchildren, Amber, Mike, Carrie, Erica, Luke, Garett, and Jessica; and great-grandchildren, Jay, Mitchell, Bryce, Kaitlyn, Tristin, Tracin, Sierra, Mackennah, and Colter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Leland; brothers, Jim and Jack Kinney; grandsons, Zack Fisher and Owen Fisher; and two stepsons, Scott Fisher and Mark Fisher.

Memorials have been established to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the First Presbyterian Church Bell Choir.
