Robin George Dahlstrom, 49, Rapid City, died Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Ft. Meade VA Hospital.
Visitation will be 8 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday, June 23, 2009.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Chaplain Bill Zandri officiating. Military honors follows at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.
A memorial has been established to Mooseheart Child City and School Inc.
Robin was born September 20, 1959, at Rice Lake, WI, to Gary and Florence Mae (Dahlstrom) Gabriel. He was raised in Wisconsin and graduated from High School at LaCrosse, WI. Robin joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge he returned to LaCrosse and later moved to Gillette, WY, where he worked as a welder. He moved to Redding, CA, where he managed a ranch before moving to South Dakota. Robin earned his Associates degree in Architectual Drafting and Design at Black Hills State Univ. He lived in Lead and owned a contracting business.
Robin met Kathy Paulson and they moved to Las Vegas where Robin obtained his B.S. degree in Public Administration. They moved back to South Dakota in 2007.
Robin enjoyed the outdoors where he hunted, fished and camped. He was involved in youth sports and coached T-Ball and softball. He also enjoyed making stained glass.
Survivors include his father Gary Gabriel, Moorcroft, WY; step father, Darcy Greenwood, LaCrosse, WI; best friend and partner, Kathy Paulson, RC; sons John L. Dahlstrom, San Diego, CA, George B. Dahlstrom, Rapid City; one brother Gary Greenwood, Milwaukee, WI; two sisters, Christie Sullivan, Highlands Ranch, CO, Elizabeth Henderson, Seattle; one half brother, Andy Gabriel, Gillette, WY; two half sisters, Anita and Georgia Gabriel, Gillette, WY; four step grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and his dog Mishka.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
