Roger Jay Talbert, 48, Fairplay, Colo., and formerly of Gillette, Wyo., died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at his residence.

Visitation was one hour prior to services at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Committal services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with Pastor Isaac Smith officiating and military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard. Friends are encouraged to gather at the funeral chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery.

Roger was born July 10, 1957, at Denver, Colo., to Lloyd and Ethel M. (Wilson) Talbert. Roger served his country in the United States Marine Corps from July 29, 1975, until his honorable discharge on Sept. 9, 1979.

Roger was well-liked in his community and worked as an electrician. He was an avid outdoorsman, learned to fly, and loved his dog "Tasha".

Survivors include his parents, two brothers,3 nephews and his niece.
