Ronald Dean Jarvis's Obituary

Ron Jarvis, 83, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on June 20, 2025, at West Marion Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Ron was born on April 19, 1942, in Sturgis, South Dakota, to Lloyd "Corky" Jarvis and Della (Tunell) Jarvis. He graduated from Sturgis High School in 1960, where he was a multi-sport athlete, participating in football, basketball, and track. He went on to attend Black Hills State College, where he continued his athletic career as a member of the basketball team. Ron enjoyed a successful 38-year career with the South Dakota Department of Transportation. Beyond his professional achievements, Ron was passionate about youth sports and devoted countless hours to coaching and mentoring young athletes. He was a longtime coach in the Sturgis Little League, where he led the Bankers baseball team for 15 years. In addition to baseball, he also coached various youth sports throughout the Sturgis community. His dedication and positive influence helped shape the lives of many young people, teaching them not only the fundamentals of the game but also the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. After retirement, he found great joy in following his grandchildren and their athletic endeavors, playing golf, and spending quality time with his family.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Francy Jarvis of Ocala, Florida; his children: daughter Kim (Lou) Pereira, son Kirk (Laura Hennen) Jarvis of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and daughter Kammie Jarvis of Clermont, Florida; and his cherished grandchildren: Charlie Jarvis, Alexa Jarvis, Jake Pereira, and McKenzie Pereira. He is also survived by his brother Gary Jarvis of Irvine, California as well as many special cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd "Corky" and Della Jarvis; his sister, Carol Jean Arends; and his brother-in-law, Norman Arends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.

Ron will be remembered for his lifelong commitment to family, public service, and his lasting legacy of mentorship and care for the youth of his community.
