Ronald Gene
Funk
September 18, 1948 – September 5, 2021
Ronald Gene Funk of Spearfish, South Dakota, died Sunday, 5 September 2021.
Ron was born 18 September 1948, at St. Anthony's hospital in Lakewood, CO, to Herman Manfred Funk and Rosina (Runge) Funk.
After graduating from Bear Creek High School in Morrison, CO, he joined the United States Marine Corps during which time he fought in the Vietnam War.
Ron met and married Cynthia Daleigh around 1970 and together they had two children and later divorced. Then Ron married his soul mate and the love of his life, Briana Wilson. They were married on 21 May 1983, at the home of his mother and step father James Gibb in Evergreen, CO.
Later Ron and Briana moved back to Briana's home town of Newell, SD. Briana had a son Shawn, whom Ron had legally adopted.
Together they bought a Victorian home to live in and enjoyed doing the restoration. Ronny was great with his hands. He enjoyed woodworking and built several pieces of furniture. He loved his motorcycles and enjoyed riding his bike in bike races.
Anyone who knew Ron, loved him. He was a fun-loving guy, always having a smile and would do anything for you if asked. Ron was doing what he loved to do, in a bike race when he passed.
