Ronald North, 62, of Montevideo, MN, and formerly of Lead and Sturgis, SD., died on June 23, 2006 at the Chippewa Co – Montevideo Hospital.
Ronald Earl North was born November 7, 1943, in Waubay, SD to Earl and Ruth (Holzerland) North. He grew up in Lead, where he was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church and graduated form Lead High School in 1962. He worked for a number of years at the Fort Meade VA Hospital. In 1986 he graduated from Aberdeen Presentation School of Nursing and later took Pulmonary Therapist Training. He lived in Webster and Aberdeen, SD and Fergus Falls and St. Cloud, Mn. before moving to Montevideo, MN about a year ago. He especially enjoyed gourmet cooking and playing cards.
He is survived by 2 children Ronna North and Rory North, both of St. Louis, MO; a grandchild; his mother Ruth Ellis of Sturgis SD; a brother, Jerry North and his wife Norma of Clayton, CA; 2 sisters: Janice Mikkelson and her husband, David of Whitewood, SD and Barbara Ulferts and her husband Larry of Montevideo, MN, as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl North and by his step-father, Lowell Ellis.
Interment will be in the Mountain Lawn Cemetery in Lead, SD.
Arrangements by Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
A memorial has been established to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.
