Rosa Lee was born February 21, 1926, to John and Vella (Carmack) Johnston at the family ranch in Ridgeway, MT. She graduated from Belle Fourche High School and went on to attend Central Bible College in Springfield, MO, for two years. She married the love of her life, Willard T. Riley, June 5, 1946. Willard and Rosa Lee lived in and around the Belle Fourche area all their lives. They owned and operated a dairy farm in Nisland for a number of years and were involved in other ranching pursuits. Along with running the dairy and ranch, Rosa Lee also did office work at a number of businesses in Belle Fourche, and managed to raise 5 children as well.
She was an active member of Black Hills Gospel Assembly most of her adult life. She loved gardening, raising chickens, canning, wood working, sewing, cooking, and crocheting.
Rosa Lee Riley passed away quietly Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at her son's home in Manteno, IL, surrounded by family.
She is survived by children, Gale (Brenda) Riley of Porter, TX; Allen (Delene) Riley of Manteno, IL; Kenny (Tess) Riley of Belle Fourche, SD; Mark (Sherrie) Riley of Humble, TX; and Bob (Glenyss) Ellis of Humble, TX. She also leaves 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; husband; and her daughter, Goldie Ann.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 22, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2019, at Black Hills Gospel Assembly in Belle Fourche. There will be a private family interment at Pine Slope Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for missions of the church.
